The Good first: The shoes are well made, the arch support is better than average, the leather is soft, the heel is just the right height. I can actually get my feet into the shoes. This is the first pair of something like five pairs I’ve had shipped to me and had to return because of my foot problems, that I’ve been able to keep.
The not so good: I wore the shoes only around the house, to make sure I could break them in and they would work for me. Unfortunately, cleaning up the kitchen, evidently a couple drops of olive oil dropped on the right shoe, and there was a very bad, visible stain! I’ve never had that happen with leather shoes. Research showed only very expensive leather cleaner that MIGHT work, to be shipped from England! And of course I didn’t feel I could send them back. However, with some trial and error, I have pretty much covered up the big oil spots. I found some expensive brown boot creme from years ago when I had some “oxblood” brown boots, and have spent three sessions covering the shoes with the creme, letting them sit all night, then buffing. You can hardly see the stain unless you know to look for it.
Now, what I considered the “bad and ugly” and that is the color of the boots before I started the polishing regime. They were nothing like the color on the screen, and not what I think of as “dark red” or a dark reddish brown color. They were actually sort of a pinkish purple. I felt as if I were wearing a clown costume! I thought of having them died, but that’s expensive. However, if I keep on using the polish — probably every single night, it covers up the purple and they look more like the photo, and more neutral. If you look up close, where the polish gets thin, the pinkish color peeps through, but really isn’t that visible. I found the original color to be very delicate. After only one day of very careful, indoor wearing and no chance to rub against anything, around the back seam, the color was already wearing. That shouldn’t happen without a lot of wear, and no polish!
I am a little worried that the nice tricot lining will keep the leather from stretching as I need it to for the boots to become really comfortable. I am stretching them, and am going to try the alcohol and water trick, but don’t know if it will work through the tricot. Let’s hope! I really want these to be comfortable. I couldn’t find a style of bootie I really liked in my size, which has to be WW, and not too long in the toes, so these are a compromise, but I’m giving them a chance and all the help I can!

Really really cute boots, but even in a narrow width, they were too wide in the heel. My heel slipped and I could easily put them on and off without using zipper.

I bought this shoe in an 8M and an 8AA, but neither one fits – I love the style and they are a nice quality, but the AA is too tight at the toes and the medium is too wide at the heel. Thanks again, Zappos but I still need boots.

I could not try on both shoes. The zippers on the sides are extremely difficult, in fact, I could not even unzip both sides to get the shoe on! Extremely disappointed about the quality since they cost over $100. I wish Zappos had a better selection of wide shoes for the younger generation!

Attractive and kind to my sensitive feet. I was surprised to find the price for microfibre the same as the price for good leather, as I had hoped it would be less expensive; however, I am so glad to have found a boot in which I can actually walk some distance that I don’t really mind the price too much. (Although I prefer the appearance of leather, I am obliged to buy microfibre when possible, as I am hard to fit and find most modern leather too stiff. I think the leather for “Major” looked of good quality and might have worked for me, but I didn’t want to risk having to make yet another return.)

I love this shoe and I can tell it will fit well once I go up a half size. I have wide feet and I got the wide fit which was perfect for my feet. I often have problems with shoes not being wide enough.

I have a size 12 wide this boot felt a size smaller and narrow for a size wide. Love the 1 inch heel and overall style of boot.

Very nice and the size is perfect good Quality ?

I selected these based partly on the fact that they have a removable innersole, which I hoped would allow me to wear them with my prescription orthotics. Unfortunately removing the innersole still did not leave enough room for my orthotics — the booties were too tight with them in. Fortunately, this is not a deal-breaker because the moderate arch support the booties provide is sufficient for me.

I liked the look of this boot–not to dressy, not too casual. The 10 N fit well across the toes etc but they were very loose in the heels and my feet wouldn’t stay in them. So I’ll be returning.

Ordered ww, which is too wide. My fault, I wore them outside because I had to have them for a baptism.
A w width would have been perfect.
Melba –
These booties fit perfectly, and are very comfortable—no breaking in required!

The boot is nice with the zippers, It did not fit. It was too wide by the heel and too narrow in the front.

These are beautiful shoes but I have a narrow foot that is difficult to fit. My heel slips up and down in these shoes so I must return.

The boot was so cute but I had to return them because when I got them out of the box, one of them was already scuffed. I am thankful for Trotters easy returns. I have 3 pairs of Trotters and they fit my narrow foot really well.

Left heel is loose–right heel is fine. For this price, I expected real leather. Silly me. And, wish I had known these were made in China–would NOT have ordered them. What happened to the days when Trotters were made in the USA! Would have paid more for them.
Rita –
i wanted a style like this but unfortunately, the fit was not good. I wear a AA which is a big problem when buying shoes. This was AA but nevertheless, it was sliding up and down as I walked. I tried it with different socks/stocking but nothing worked. Bummer because I really need a bootie like this. search continues.

These are NOT leather uppers and I feel deceived. The uppers are starting to “crack” where my foot bends. If I had known they were not real leather, I would not have ordered them.

I didn’t realize that one of the zippers is non-functioning. Not a big deal, but kinda odd. The fit, however, was not good. Very tight through the ball of my foot and quite loose at the heel. They are nicely made, but will have to go back.

Ordered a 9 and exchanged for 91/2. Great feeling for comfort and looks!
Jan –
I read the reviews and saw that many people thought these were too narrow in the toe and wide in the heel. Shoes aren’t usually made like that, so I ignored those reviews, but unfortunately they were right. These are just not made right.

The heel is extremely wide. Do not order this if you have a narrow foot.

I was ready to like this boot. Trotters is a good brand for 11N. After 2 wearings, peeling of the thin top layer showed on the toe. Returned as defective.

Dear Trotters,
I love many of your styles, however the heel slips up and down when I walk. I wear a 10W because of bunions. The toe area fits perfectly, but the heel in your shoes are too wide. I really wish that your shoes could be made to fit a wide toe area with a normal sized heel area. Thank you!

The leather is sooo soft that I wore the all day out of the box. I love the color; it isn’t actually red, more of a neutral, versatile brown with a red undertone.
