I ordered the Trotter Major boot in my usual 9AA. This boots runs narrow but is true to size in length. The boot has a zipper on each side, but only one of the zippers on the inside of the boot is functional. The other zipper is for looks only. This might explain why the boot is narrow when putting it on. Because I have narrow feet, I liked the secure fit.
I love the look of this boot. It is sleek with soft leather. My only issue was the arch support. The arch is a firm material that was uncomfortable for me. This could be because my arch does not fit the contour of the insole. Regrettable I must send them back. They are great looking boots, for someone who wants a firmer insole.

The comfort is so-so at best…I have a narrow foot so I need narrow shoes, and in my opinion the lack of comfort doesn’t come from the shoe being narrow but rather it because it’s cheaply made. After only the second use I could feel the inner sole falling apart.
I recently ordered Trotters for my daughter as well and they gave her blisters. For a brand that’s supposed to be known for comfort this is pretty disappointing, I think we’ll move on from it.

I have narrow feet and the narrows fit perfect. The heel is low enough to be comfortable and the style is great. These look great with jeans and will be my go to pair this year. Wish it were available in a tan. Love these boots

Loved this boot. Sturdy sole and support and very soft supple leather boot. Feels like I can probably wear this all day comfortably. I like that I can wear this with jeans or slacks.

I have a hard time getting shoes that actually fit. Often resort to slingbacks but that doesn’t work so well in the winter in New England!! 75-80% of the time i take an 8-1/2 N (or 2AA) other times in only need an 8. These Trotters are totally true to fit and very comfortable. the slight arch support feels wonderful. I LOVE these shoes.

Love, love, love these shoes. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned!!! I am on my feet all day, up and down the halls in an elementary school, in and out of classrooms. I definitely recommend purchasing them due to their comfort.

These are beautiful black leather boots! The 10 1/2 narrow that I usually wear fits well. I might’ve like them to come up slightly higher, but I am very pleased with them. It is very hard to find shoes in this size-I was so glad that I found some that I am so happy with!

The Good first: The shoes are well made, the arch support is better than average, the leather is soft, the heel is just the right height. I can actually get my feet into the shoes. This is the first pair of something like five pairs I’ve had shipped to me and had to return because of my foot problems, that I’ve been able to keep.
The not so good: I wore the shoes only around the house, to make sure I could break them in and they would work for me. Unfortunately, cleaning up the kitchen, evidently a couple drops of olive oil dropped on the right shoe, and there was a very bad, visible stain! I’ve never had that happen with leather shoes. Research showed only very expensive leather cleaner that MIGHT work, to be shipped from England! And of course I didn’t feel I could send them back. However, with some trial and error, I have pretty much covered up the big oil spots. I found some expensive brown boot creme from years ago when I had some “oxblood” brown boots, and have spent three sessions covering the shoes with the creme, letting them sit all night, then buffing. You can hardly see the stain unless you know to look for it.
Now, what I considered the “bad and ugly” and that is the color of the boots before I started the polishing regime. They were nothing like the color on the screen, and not what I think of as “dark red” or a dark reddish brown color. They were actually sort of a pinkish purple. I felt as if I were wearing a clown costume! I thought of having them died, but that’s expensive. However, if I keep on using the polish — probably every single night, it covers up the purple and they look more like the photo, and more neutral. If you look up close, where the polish gets thin, the pinkish color peeps through, but really isn’t that visible. I found the original color to be very delicate. After only one day of very careful, indoor wearing and no chance to rub against anything, around the back seam, the color was already wearing. That shouldn’t happen without a lot of wear, and no polish!
I am a little worried that the nice tricot lining will keep the leather from stretching as I need it to for the boots to become really comfortable. I am stretching them, and am going to try the alcohol and water trick, but don’t know if it will work through the tricot. Let’s hope! I really want these to be comfortable. I couldn’t find a style of bootie I really liked in my size, which has to be WW, and not too long in the toes, so these are a compromise, but I’m giving them a chance and all the help I can!

I was pleasantly surprised that the boot was narrow enough to hold my feet in place. My heels do slide up a little bit. But, not enough to worry. I wear a 12 narrow. They fit well. The boots are very comfortable, soft and don’t hurt my feet anywhere. They are cute. I recommend them!!! They quality is nice as well.

This boot did not work for me, but I still give it high marks for the style, quality, arch support, softness, leather beauty, and workmanship. This is a boot that is well-made and will last. It is supportive and will be super comfortable on certain feet. My feet aren’t among those. The boot is true to size in length, but sized very oddly in the width. I normally wear a 7.5M or an 8M. Based on other reviews that said the boot ran narrow, I ordered a 7.5W. The boot slipped excessively in the heel, but the toe box felt pretty good, if not a bit wide. To help with the heel slipping and sliding forward of my foot, I put a half pad in the front of the shoe. The toe box was perfect with the insert, but the heel was still slipping too much. Thinking that the reviews about width were incorrect, I ordered the 7.5M because I loved everything about this boot. The 7.5M slipped in the heel just as much as the 7.5W, but it was so tight in the toe box that I had to really maneuver my foot to get it into the boot. It was very tight and even if stretched would be too tight, yet the heel still slipped a lot. It was a heartbreaker for me to send these back. I have been looking for a boot that met this criteria for a very long time – comfort features, style, no excessive hardware/decorations, small around the ankle, well-made – It is classic, and everything was absolutely perfect, except the fit…

I ordered my normal size in other brands, 10.5 N, but these felt loose in the heel and kept slipping in the boot when I walked. Unfortunately, I sent them back. These were nice boots otherwise. I really want a pair of boots, but haven’t found one yet that works for me.

I normally wear an 8M but ordered wide to wear with heavy winter socks. Compared to the other brands I ordered in wide, these seem more like my regular shoes: with just my normal thinner socks they fit well, maybe even a bit too snug on one foot. Excellent quality leather and worksmanship, no heel slippage and I like the padding at the top front and back. Still deciding if these will be keepers.

I’ve been searching for a lower heeled bootie and thought this would work. The style is simple and a good basic bootie. I would have preferred a smooth black finish vs the black snake but it wasn’t a very obvious “snake” print. I ordered the recommended 9.5 ww. The width was perfect and made my wide feet look narrow. The toe box needed to be wider as the big toe rubbed against the side of the boot. I feel the leather was soft enough to stretch in time but I also didn’t feel that the heel was comfortable. I could feel where the heel ended under my foot and it just didn’t feel right. I think more cushioning or a different cut to the heel would have helped. I feel I need a more rounded toe box vs an almond toe to fit my feet. I love Zappos for all their choices and easy returns.

Attractive and kind to my sensitive feet. I was surprised to find the price for microfibre the same as the price for good leather, as I had hoped it would be less expensive; however, I am so glad to have found a boot in which I can actually walk some distance that I don’t really mind the price too much. (Although I prefer the appearance of leather, I am obliged to buy microfibre when possible, as I am hard to fit and find most modern leather too stiff. I think the leather for “Major” looked of good quality and might have worked for me, but I didn’t want to risk having to make yet another return.)
